Women Helping Women

As the Desert Horizons Women’s Club, we are committed to “Women Helping Women” through new and long-time friendships; educational, fun and vibrant activities; and various charitable opportunities. There will always be someone here to cheer, help or support any member in need no matter what. We know there is strength in numbers and our numbers are great!

Our activities are purposely broad-ranging. You might want to:

• Attend a luncheon to meet new friends, hear interesting speakers or programs and shop with nearby vendors
• Read and share your perspective on a new book
• Play new games with friends
• Share dinners or special events with other members and their spouses or partners  
• Hike our beautiful nearby mountains
• Putt our 18-hole putting course
• Walk, swim or bike with friends to stay fit
• Take a field trip to interesting places and venues
• And last, but certainly not least, help and serve our community both inside and beyond our gates by donating your time and/or resources to those in need.

Welcome to our Desert Horizons Women's Club webpage. We hope you enjoy exploring all of the various benefits that come from being a member of our wonderful organization, which is 27 years old and serves more than 270 women!

Our motto is "Women Helping Women" and we achieve that through various social, educational, recreational and charitable pursuits. From Special Interest Groups to monthly luncheons with various programs, to giving back to our local Coachella Valley community, our members form long-lasting friendships as they participate in multiple activities.

If you're not a member yet, we invite all women who are Desert Horizons residents or non-resident social members to join us for unlimited fun, friendship and charity!

History of Desert Horizons Women’s Club

Desert Horizons residents Mary T. Roche and Gloria Brightman founded the DHWC in 1998.  They wanted to help women integrate into our Desert Horizons community through social, educational, charitable and non-political community activities.  From that first meeting of 65 women, we now enjoy a roster of more than 270 members, with fun, competent women holding numerous Board positions, and others leading Special Interest Groups.  We are "Women Helping Women" in both our local Desert Horizons community and through our charitable efforts for women in need here in the Coachella Valley.  Our heartfelt thanks to Mary and Gloria for making this happen!

25th Anniversary Celebration

In 2023, our Desert Horizons Women's Club celebrated 25 years with our traditional Anniversary Tea, complete with lovely hats and delicious treats!  With every year, every member makes the club stronger and more vibrant.  Take a peek at a historical perspective below of how we started and how we have transformed over the years.
